The system includes quick and detailed invoicing; purchasing; expense; receivables and payables management; inventory and order control; vendor; emplyee and customer data; contact tracking; price lists; mailings lists; fax cover sheets; along with customer and employee sales and commission reports. Multiple addresses per customer, prepayments and credits on orders are provided for, along with an alert features that will inform your sales staff of a problem or potential problem with a particular customer when their next order is placed or if an order is late or back ordered. DownToBusiness handles your sales effort by allowing you to keep precise track of activities while reminding your salespeople of their next scheduled sales call. DownToBusiness has the unique ability to handle all sorts of tax situations, from non-taxable items to non-taxable customers, from single state to multistate tax collection and all of reports can be easily modified to handle complex city/county/state tax calculations as well.
The emphasis of the DTB templates is sales, customer service, and management. Many familiar accounting functions are provided without forcing the formal structure of a pure accounting system.
What Are Templates?
Templates are prearranged files created to serve a specific purpose. The fields and calculations have been defined, the layouts both input and output have been created, and scripts have been preassigned for you. By utilizing a template you’ll find that most of the work required to create such a file has been done for you. All that is left for you to do is to make the minor alterations or additions that are needed to adapt the file to your way of doing business. You may need to change a tax rate or layout, perhaps add or delete a field. Using templates, a few changes are much easier and take far less time to do than creating a database from scratch. It is, however, essential that you have a good understanding of FileMaker Pro before you attempt to alter, adapt, or otherwise use these templates.
Think of these templates as a foundation. A foundation upon which you build your own business system using FileMaker Pro. Once you become comfortable with what we have created we encourage you to create new fields, delete those you do not need, rearrange calculations, layouts, print formats, etc. in ways that work best for your business. You’ll get the reports and data analysis figures that you want without having to settle for someone elses’ format.
